SQL Developer

I installed SQL Developer and instantClient from Oracle simply to to run sql statements from the Scott schema to complete school homework but I don't know what to enter on the connection parameters in SQL Developer. Everyone says that installing Oracle is a pain in the neck so I installed the instantClient...it was an easy installed for iMac...I was surprised. Can someone advice what to enter in username password hostname port (it automatically defaults to localhost) and SID 1521

You will have to get the hostname and password from whoever is operating the Oracle server at your school.
