Running Snow Leopard 10.6.1
Running Safari 4.0.3

For some reason safari has had really bad issues. Every time I open a tab, it goes berzerk, freezes the whole system for about 5 minutes, then works OK for a little while. Just a second ago when I clicked a tab, activity monitor and istat showed that Safari used 176 % of the cpu (Intel core 2 duo 2.13 Ghz), and of course, locked up the computer for a small time (about 3 minutes).

HELP plz help me fix it! I don't like firefox......



If it's snow leopard, its tempting to revert back to leopard. TBH everything was good till I put snow leopard on my macbook.


OH and software update says everythings up to date.

That's pretty amazing, not to mention impossible, mathematically speaking. Are you missing a decimal point there?

Dual core machines have two processors. In Activity Monitor, processor usage is measured up to 200%, as compared with a single CPU.

We have seen a number of threads about Safari acting wacky following a Snow Leopard upgrade.

What I would recommend is using the 'Reset Safari' feature to purge all caches, cookies, etc. I would also recommend checking to see if Adobe's Flash is up to date:

Following on from Podraig above, ensure the plugins ( if any ) are the latest versions and known to work with SL.
