Hi all,
I'm having a heck of a time here.
I have some TS files from my Hauppauge HDPVR. I want to use them in FCE. FCE doesn't directly support TS files.
I need to transcode my files into something that I can use in FCE while maintaining HD (720p). I know I'll have to change the audio format (currently AC3, not supported from what I understand in FCE), but I'm completely stumped on how to handle these TS files.
I've tried:
mpegstreamclip - it throws up complaints about the file format not being valid
ffmpeg - works EXCEPT for audio, which it can't deal with since obviously it has no AC3 filter (basically I get all my video but no audio)
handbrake - convert to AVI, but I end up with chunks of the video being so blocky it's unuseable. The editor didn't seem to like the .m4v container.
TsRemux on windows - is super fast, and does a conversion, but of its 3 output formats, I've had no joy so far on any of them.
I know this can be done, but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.
Additional notes:
The .ts files were generated in this case with:

Their media transcoder is geared to transcode for use on portable devices which is not what I'm looking for.
