i love safari. I found that it is faster than firefox to load and i think they are about the same when loading pages. I use firefox now and then and when at school because of network things there but safari at home and everywhere else ! fast, simple, easy. and 'it just works' ! cheers
It's basically Safari with some more features. I used Safari with Saft for a long time, but Shiira just has a few extra things that I like. I would use Firefox, or Camino, but Webkit's font smoothing is just so easy on the eyes.
Webkit is slower than Gecko though. Can't have everything you want
I like Safari, because it detect my flip4mac plugin and it is the only native browser (that I know of) that has tabbed browsing, without needing to upgrade. For Example, Internet Explorer is only on Windows now, but I had to upgrade it to version 7 because service pack 2 did not have the upgraded version already in it. In brief, I would say that Firefox is the best browser for windows and Safari is all you need on Mac (unless you play something like Runescape).
Safari...the spell checker is the one feature that puts Safari over the top for me.
At one time I had an add-on spell checker for FF but I guess it isn't compatible with the newest version and besides it wasn't as intuitive and built in...difficult to use.
FF 2.0 has a good spell checker, just as good as safari.
FF, opera, camino, and IE7 all have tabbed browsing too. and all but IE7 have had it for a long time.
but i use safari unless the website won't recognize it. i figure the folks at apple put it there for a reason, and they're smarter than me, so i'll stick with safari. less clutter.

I've looked around and don't seem to find that. Can you give me a link or otherwise direct me to the spell checker you're talking about? And does it require a separate window to check the document or is it built in like Safari?

it's built in. i just used FF 2.0 to reply, and purposly misspelledd a few words, and i got teh familiar red underlines.
after a few months of owning the macbook, i've settled on safari. tried firefox (which was my browser fo choice on xp), but just found myself opeing safari more often. i do also have IE on the macbook. just wanted to try it. it's actually not bad on windows (other than that it's security seems to be modeled after swiss cheese). i don't really use it at all.

Safari. After some side-by-side comparisons between Safari, Firefox 2.0, and Opera, Safari had the fastest downloads, but Opera had the fastest average page loads.

Hmmmm...I've been fiddling with FF since last night. Couple of things I don't like when comparing to Safari...first I'm a message board freak and the spell checker which it works fine here doesn't seem to automatically spell chek on another forum I visit (Safari does) when in the "reply" box...I have to right click and choose "Spell check this"...this is probably due to a problem with the skin that forum uses BUT Safari doesn't have that problem and it's a big deal to me.
Plus FF doesn't seem to handle cookies as well in some cases. Like going to the first unread post on some forums it kinda jumps around before settling somewhere and even then it might not be right on he first unread post.
Anyway, I'm gonna fiddle some more. FF 2.0 is definitely an improvement though.
