Copying colored text from Pages to new Email

Copying colored text from Pages to new Email

I am writing an a letter in Pages and copying the text into a new email in Mail. When I paste the text into the new email I am losing formating. Is there a way to keep the formating exactly as it was in Pages.

Example:
"This is an example"

When copied into Mail becomes
"This is an example"

Mail doesn't retain the original formating. How can I keep the original formating?
