Does using Mail to access POP accounts clutter your hard disk??

Firstly, forgive my ignorance, but I have a Gmail account and only got round to using the Mail application on my MacBook because it was easier to send large photos via iPhoto that way. Attaching bulky photos to Gmail directly would be too limiting.

Does anybody know if accessing my Gmail via Mail is cluttering my hard disk?ie, are photos and emails sent via Mail kept on my hard disk taking up space?

Thanks to anyone to can shed any light on this.

They are taking up space, but it's really not that much. I have about five years worth of email between four accounts in Thunderbird, which amounts to thousands of emails, and it's all only taking up about 2GB.

Cool

Every e-mail that you send is kept. All you need to do is go into the sent folder from time to time and purge it contents. Don't for get to select erase deleted messages from all accounts under the mailbox menu.
