you convert them to mp3 or something else that can be played in iTunes

Another vote for EasyWMA. Been using it for years. One warning, it will not convert Protected WMA.

WMA will play in Quicktime if you have the Flip4Mac plugin installed. I just tried a WMA and it played fine QT with that installed.
