One of my grandchildren downloaded a tune from Lime Ware. The next day, all audio cut out of my OSX - Could they have downloaded a virus? All audio is set up fine, speakers plugged in.... cant even get "You've got Mail" sound on AOL. No audio on movies, and ITUNEs are all silent

This may sound stupid, but your sure the volume is turned up?

Trust me I've had it happen. I had to drive to a friend's house one time because he thought his audio card was fried, so I was going to install a new one for him. Low and behold his mother used his computer the night before when he was out to check her email, well she turned off his speakers. He didn't even think to check that since he never turns them off.

It's more likely they changed your sounds settings while they were downloading. It happens. Be sure to check your system prefrences.
