Hi all! Can anyone help?

We have never been able to create a Playlist using iTunes. We have the latest version. When I drag music files from my iTunes Library to a Playlist, I get a black circle with a line through it as if not allowed to drag and drop files.
We always get this. What gives? Even right clicking it says add to Playlist, but when I click, it still never ends up in a Playlist.

I am close to giving up on iTunes, it is very frustraling.

Thanks!

You are making playlists then trying to add songs from your iTunes library and it will not let you? I have never seen that in my almost 10 years of using iTunes.

What are the specs on your Mac and which version of OSX are you running?

Quick question, you are not trying to drag from say your iPod or iPhone into a playlist are you?

I work in IT and build my own PCs. This is a PC I built running Windows XP. I am about to upgrade to Windows 7 on this box. This has been this way for years on all our PCs. Can't add songs to lists.

I started with iTunes on Windows but mostly now it's on Macs with OSX. Will fire up my Windows 7 and XP box and give it a check.

Apple - iTunes - Tutorials - Learn about all things iTunes.
Yes, exactly. As I drag files over to a list, it turns into a black circle and line through it indicating this action is not possible.

If you select some songs then choose File - New Playlist from Selection does that work?

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup
