2011 MBP i7, Apogee One, MXL condenser mic - Stops laying down audio after a measure

I don't have this problem when plugging in a guitar or bass to the Apogee unit, but only with the mic.

The breakout cable and the usb connections and physically fine, and my MBP has no known issues.

Any clue why this happens? I'll restart finder, close open apps, restart the system, etc, but no dice.

HALP!!!

Upon experimentation, the apogees built in mic doesn't cause the same break in audio when recording.

There seems to be a problem associated with the mic.
