Faster processor or more RAM for better performance in garageband?
The performance I'm getting on garageband 09 atm is pretty poor. The sound constantly breaks up while I'm playing the software instruments. The playhead goes to red which I know means the processor is overloading so I assume that'd mean I have to get a fast processor. Atm I have a 2Ghz core 2 duo. I was thinking of upgrading to a 3Ghz processor. Would that solve the problem?

    And don't double post!

Administrators do not like having additional work heaped on them and will no doubt merge your threads.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

RAM and disk speed contribute aswell. if you use a lot of software instruments, and its running slow, then upgrading the ram would be a good bet.

Loading/saving your GarageBand projects to an external powered HD will help out with less processor strain.
