Hi All:

I am trying to transfer my itunes and photos from a dieing iMac G5 (panther) to my iBook G4 (tiger).

I've connected the two computers by the ethernet cable, clicked share from the system etc. my laptop shows the older computer but is "unable to connect".

Anyone have an idea what I am missing?

Thanks,
Hammerguy

Not sure, but Firewire Target Disk Mode would work more simply, so I'd suggest you do that if you have a FW cable handy.

Hi Chas, thanks for the reply. I am not much of a computer whiz...where would I find the firewire target disc mode would be...or how to start it up. Any direction would be appreciated.

Sorry, should have included this:

How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode

And in case you're wondering, yes your computer meets all the specs. This trick has been around for over 10 years, so the "requirements" are fairly moot anymore.
