    DVD to avi?
    what is the easiest way to make an avi file out of a dvd i have in my drive?
    tutorial link/software advise would be much appreciated =] thanks

    That depends on the DVD you have in your drive.

    If it's a commercial DVD requiring that you break the encryption, that discussion is not allowed here.

    no, its just a family gathering someone filmed, its on dvd but i want it on avi

    iMac 2010 27" QuadI7 OSX10.11, iMac 2008 OSX10.11, MBP Late2011OSX10.11 , iPad Air, iPhone 3GS
    Handbrake should do that for you. Been a while since I used it but pretty sure it will convert a DVD like yours to an AVI file. Just checked and you can choose AVI or MP4.

    Another free option is MPEG Streamclip.

    Another paid option is DVDxDV.
