iPod loudness vs. MacBook loudness

I'm sound testing a song of mine I made in GarageBand. On my MacBook, it sounds full -- as loud as a U2 mp3, for example. However, when I play it on my iPod in my car, it's quieter than that U2 mp3. Is this normal?

Here's the song in question (fast forward to 1:20 for its loudest peak):

I've turned it up as loud as it can go in Audacity (using Leveller and Amplify).

Maybe it's the settings you have on your iPod (EQ) and/or iTunes (EQ)?

The volume seems fine on my Macbook Pro.
