Just as the title suggests I'm looking to buy my partner some wireless speakers for his iMac

A while ago we looked at some Griffin speakers but imo they are not suitable as they were designed for iPod/iPhone and I really didnt like them lol

Griffin Technology: Evolve - Wireless Sound System for iPod

I looked around but I'm having no luck! Just want something with nice sound quality, that can be connected directly to his iMac and somewhere between $400 - $500 AUD mark

I suggested some BOSE but he wants no part in it lol he wants wireless so that they can be taken out side to sunbake etc..

You could get yourself some nice surround sound speakers (200-500 US) and then the Creative Soundblaster transmitter/receiver (USB) combo. That's what I'm going to do. Probably fix my old surround sound speakers and then get that (**** yea employee discount at best buy!) for 100 instead of the usual 150.

airport express can make any set of speakers "wireless" with the headphone to a.v. cable conversion cord.

Yeah he wants 'wireless' like to be able to walk around with the actual speakers!

I'm thinking I will just buy him some BOSE Companion 5 speakers and he can be happy with them!

The Griffin Evolve speakers were recalled in Australia so I dont want to run the risk of buying them even though there are still a few people here selling them, they were recalled for a reason.

Hmm.. Any other suggestions?
