    iTunes

Go to Preferences - General tab - When you insert a CD .... In the drop down box change to Ask to Import or one of the other Import options

Then go to Import Settings - have several formats you can select.

iTunes for MP3, but it doesn't do FLAC, so I use Max, which is brilliant, and free!

    Max from sbooth.org

It handles all formats and will convert files too.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

I used Max also - the results even in the same bitrate, etc were noticably nicer sounding than rips done in itunes, imo. It is a bit slower though, but it will actually embed album art in the mp3 rather than storing album art somewhere else like itunes and wmp.
