Is there a small and free program where I can record sound and voice via the MacBook mic?

This Audiacity is overkilling. Too many features, many are strange to layman like me.
I tried importing a mp3 file, but it plays in a lightning second for the whole clip, and the sound of course is distorted.
Also, after recorded voice, it takes funny steps to export to mp3 format, which I have never succeeded.
The program crash and close abruptly too.

Is there a simpler alternative, like Window's Voice Recorder?
