problems with getting songs to my new mac

just got in yesterday and i am trying to put music from my mp3 disc and iphone to my mac. when i try my mp3 disc, it reads as it's a blank disc. and how do i get existing files and songs from my iphone to my mac?

Is it just a blank CD with MP3's on it?
I don't know about the iPhone, I only have an iPod.
