Help Please

Hi. I am having alot of trouble getting my numark dxm01 usb ( with 2 onboard 24 bit soundcards) working correctly with my imac.
Ive managed to get both active monitors working out of channel 2 on the mixer, but when i move the cross fader to channel 1, nothing......
I have had a mess with aggregate usb codec in audio midi set up and also in sys prefs but dont really know exactly what im doing wrong...
happy enough so far just getting itunes/logic studio coming out of both speakers with the cross fader in the middle. As far as monitoring the other channel in headphones or getting the other tune or anything out of channel 1... i am flumoxed !!!!
All help in as plain English as possible please ( as this has been frying my mind for ages now ! ) would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
