AVI Video Files not playing

My MAC doesn't recognise AVI files and i have downloaded pretty much as many DivX Updates and patches as i can find

Some PLZ HELP!

yeah, i'd say go with VLC...it will play basically anything without any patches or codecs or anything...pretty awesome...
