iTunes duplicating my songs?

i tried putting a discography of a band into my itunes and for some reason itunes is duplicating every song so that i have twice as many songs as i should. any thoughts of why this is happening?

Alot of times when this happens to me its because inside the album folder there is a playlist file in addition to the songs. So when it imports the playlist and the songs it does it twice. Hope that helps.
