Is mpeg the only file type that causes problems when imported into imovie? What is the best format to convert an mpeg before importing into imovie? thanks in advance.

use MPEGStreamClip to convert mpeg to .dv or .mp4

.dv is a huge file, but mostly lossless.

.mp4 is smaller and compressed, but you can do .mp4 to 100%, which is also almost lossless, and much more friendly with iMovie.
