So I have iMovie '08 and I've been told there is no way to burn your files to a CD or DVD to play in a DVD player... I used to do this with the old version =/ darn.

Anyway, I need to burn a "movie" to a CD (preferably) or a DVD to play in a DVD player... with freeware. I've been searching and come up pretty dry for results. Any help would be much appreciated! I feel like such a dunce!

I don't use imovie 08, but is there no Share>>iDVD option?

Can you export the movie to .mp4 or .mpg, or .dv? if So, use Burn for OS X (freeware). It should be able to convert, then burn it for you.

Nope, can't share to iDVD =/

I tried Burn, but when it turns it .mp4 into an .mpg it separates the audio and video... then when it burns they don't line up!

Any other suggestions or am I going to have to splurge on some software? In that case... what should I get?

iDVD should be able to read an iMovie project file. You can either import the movie project or the exported movie.

When you convert an avi file to mpeg, it turns out much larger. What was 230mb turns into between 700mb and over a gig in mpeg format. This makes burning all my home movies onto one 4.7gb dvd difficult as they don't fit. Is there a way round this? Is mpeg the only file format that will play on dvd players? Sorry, this must have been asked before, I did have a look around first though..

Many thanks - alfie

What really confuses me is how two avi files the same size end up as 1.15gb and 842mb .. why is this??!
