video plays back in japanese

I used mactheripper to extract to a dvd and when I play it back plays in Japanese, I use VLC player to play it back. I don't see a language setting in the vlc player. I used handbrake and a demo of movie converter to convert it to a mp4 and it still plays in japanese. Is it possible I extracted in Japanese? I've never used mactheriper, is there a way I can get this in english?
