Because I hate 08, I got HD so i can make effects, But I for example, I tried to do the electricity effect, but the only thing I have problems with is how to start and stop an effect, so instead of the lightning coming out when I want, it shows throughout the whole clip, can anyone help me?
And also, does anyone know any good blood effects for iMovie? Because I dont want to make another thread, is there a free image editing program like photoshop except free. |

You may have to check the timeline and shorten the lightning effects length and place it where you want so it only plays when you want, where you want. I use Final Cut so this is how I would do it in Final Cut, never really used iMovie tho. as for blood effects, I don't really know of any free ones but, theres a site called VideoCopilot.net which has alot of visual effects tutorials (mostly for after effects) and they sell a pack that has a ton of stuff like muzzle blasts, blood/gore effects, etc...
as for a free image editing software, you may want to try GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/). I've used it a few times and if you can understand how photoshop works (with layers and masks and such) then it operates in pretty much the same way. hope that helped. 2001 Lexus IS300 Daily Driver Skyline R33 GTS-T 470rwhp at 15psi at 5100ft elevation!

Do you have X11 installed? If not, you can install it from your install disc. If you're on Leopard check out http://www.wilber-loves-apple.org/pages/download.html for current version and patch instructions. |

X11 is a windowing environment found in most Unix/Linux operating systems (http://developer.apple.com/opensource/tools/X11.html). On the Mac X11 allows you to run some X11 apps -- of which Gimp is one.
As for installing the OSX disc that came with your Mac. You only need to install the optional stuff if you want iLife. |
