I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, so forgive me:

I'm considering a mac. Funds currently dictate the 24" 2.8gHz IMac. I'll be using the machine for movie editing but I won't be doing any high end HD editing or animation/cg/sfx. Will FCS2 work efficiently enough on an IMac to not slow me down? Should I save the extra $600 or so an get in on the base model MacPro?

Thanks!

Well, if you can get the Mac Pro, its a more powerful machine. The iMac is very capable of running FCS2 once you add more RAM. You can save a ton getting the RAM from somewhere else and installing it yourself. Its very easy.

Remember, the Mac Pro does not come with a monitor.

A 2.8GHz iMac with 4GB's of RAM will chew through your editing jobs. I would also look into Final Cut Express instead of FCS2. Its only $200 and has all the features you will need.
