This is my first post here, and this is kind of complicated, so I'm sorry if I'm confusing anyone.

I have iMovie HD 6, and recently my dad bought a GeeThree Slick Transition Kit, Volumes 7 and 9. It managed to work fine on my Macbook for a while, until about a few hours ago.

At the moment I am working on an experimental video project. The clips I'm using involves .m4v's, so I changed their formats to .mpg's to have them enter iMovie perfectly [I right-clicked on the files, selected 'Get Info' and changed their file extension to .mpg]. Now comes the weird part.

Whenever I add transitions or effects, Geethree-related or not, it has a tendency to mess up the audio/video of the clips I am modifying. The weirder part is that this distortion happens during some playbacks, and works fine other times. The sound is distorted, video freezes and pixellates oddly, and the audio bar itself is acting differently [I'm not sure if this is due to an update or not].

Now I'm trying to figure out the cause of this problem. Is the cause of the distortions from the Geethree set, the m4v's "converted" to mpgs, or is it something entirely different? Any help is appreciated!

I recently uploaded a Youtube, with a title from Geethree in it. As an experiment, I put a Geethree title in the beginning, a regular iMovie title after it, and in the end of the video, 2 Geethree titles with special configuration added onto them.

It plays the first 2 titles fine, but the video freezes RIGHT BEFORE the other titles play in the end.

For reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkYx8twG-Ww

I need some input quickly. I submitted a video to Apple's Insomnia contest with Geethree titles, and if it freezes up my contest entry, I might as well forfeit.

I'm not even supposed to be here today!

Changing the extension is not how you change the format. As iMovie converts the m4v file anyway during import, you don't have to worry about doing that.

I have no idea if this is confusing iMovie or your add on plugins.

As far as the competition goes, remove the offending extras and perhaps try just the built in title effects so you can get your entry in.
