Hello all,
I'm new to the forum so be gentle. I just recently bought my first mac, and why I didn't do this sooner is beyond me. What I am looking for is opinions on camcorders that work well with the Mac. I have learned that Mac goes with anything but there must be one thats better then others. I am looking for the MiniDV format in the price range up too $400.00 If anyone out there has opinions or experiences could you please post as I am lost with all the models out there. I did read about the Canaon 850 but upon playback you hear the motor noise. So if anyone could give me some choices it would be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance.

In all seriousness, at $400 and under all minidv cameras will be pretty similar in terms of image quality. some will have better features than others, but these will be "bells and whistles" not related to image quality.

From my personal experience, I'd stay away from Samsung. Canon and Panasonic are both highly regarded across their camera lines (up to and including their "prosumer" cameras costing thousands). If this is just for home movies, I'd look for one with image stabilization and the ability to use an external microphone (most built-in mic's will pick up motor noise) when you want to.
