I have about 100 DVDs that I want to rip and put on an external hard drive. I want to be able to view those movies through AppleTV or something similar in the future.
1) What application should I use to best rip the DVDs? 2) What is the best format to rip the movies into, taking into account: compatability, quality, and size? Thanks! |

1) Handbrake
2) There are presets in Handbrake that you can use to rip for best quality for a number of different devices. There is an AppleTV preset, but if you think you may get an iPod or iPhone and want compatibility, then you will want to use the preset for one of them instead. Quality wise, using any of the presets for a specific device will give you the best quality you can get while maintaining compatibility with the device itself. ![]() |
