Is there any way to tag clips or sections of clips in iMovie? I'd like to tag them for easier indexing for future compositions.

Rename what...where? Nothing happens regarding tagging/renaming when right-clicked: just play, select or split.

I want to be able to filter the clips by way of tag in the library.

For those of you who found this thread in search of the same issue, I've updated it to add that I've have found out that it is possible to tag video clips in iMovie 08.

You need to check "Show Advanced Tools" under Preferences. Then you can select a clip and click on the "Key" icon to assign it a label. Your first 9 labels are numerically keyed so you can shortcut the tag descriptions with a keypress corresponding to labels 1 - 9.

At the bottom of the "Event Library" window, you can filter your clips by the tags/labels you've applied. There is a video tutorial at Apple under the iMovie videos that shows how this is set up.
