My camera takes movies in .avi imovie does not support imovie. I got the divx codec to play them in quicktime, but I still would like to import and edit them...please advise....(so far this is my only mac snag)

You could always export them from Quicktime to an iMovie friendly format eg .mov

Failing that Mpeg stream clip or a similar app should be fit to convert them for you

Try using VLC media player to transcode...see the link in my signature for specific directions, it's not hard to do.

You can change it from .avi to .mp4 and iMovie likes .mp4 alot.
