hey guys (first post)

i just got my new macbook pro yesterday, and i tried plugging into my HDTV, but i have to say the quality of playing video files off it (using VLC) just isn't quite as good as playing video files off a disc on my helios h4000 upscaling dvd player/divx player (both plugged in through HDMI) other stuff looks great though, like pictures etc.

of course VLC will player anything and the helios won't but surely here is a program that does a similar kind of upscaling to get those HD like images out of SD files? or is that only possible with hardware decoders?

QUOTE Thanks
