freeware, recording your screen

i was wondering if anybody knew of any FREEWARE apps that record your screen? i don't need it for anything serious, so i don't need great quality, but i also really don't want to have to pay for it.

edit:: at a risk of not being very specific, i mean an app that makes a video of what is going on on your screen
