why do video formats need to be included in the file name?
just questioning. I'm sorting video files on my desktop, and I can't save them unless I include .avi, .mp4, etc in the file name.

Try saving them elsewhere, such as in a folder on your desktop. I have tons of video files saved, and not one of them has a file extension pinned on the end of the name.
