DVD clips in Imovie

Hey I want to add some clips from some DVDs to my imovie. I am not very computer savy. Can anyone help me out on the easiest way to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Scroll to the end of the page and you'll see this thread "DVD to .avi"

dvd to quicktime or mpeg?

OR

Basically go to www.versiontracker.com or to www.macupdate.com and find a program (handbrake, ffmpeg, fourty-two) that will convert DVD tracks to avi or MPEG - use QUicktime to convert the file, then import into iMovie.

It sounds easy enough, but may take some trial and error....
