    G'day christm,

Didn't you have this trouble before??

If you double-click the avi file, does it open in QuickTime?

    Look at QuickTime>Window>Show Movie Info.

I think the problem is the little endian codec which I think only works on Pentium PC's ... I'm looking for a solution now ... stay tuned Chris.

    Can you try this Chris:

Import the file into iTunes but set the import prefs to AIFF beforehand. When the movie is converted to AIFF, try to import it into iMovie.

Have you tried to convert it using MediaFork or ffmpegX?

with the mediafork i select the files (on the external hd) then press ok and it says no valid title found.

I think ffmpegX is worth a try. It's the little Endian codec that's the trouble.
