I am considering switching to a Mac soon to edit family movies. I have a Sony DCR DVD 92 which goes straight to a mini DVD. Can these be uploaded to the Mac so i can use iMovie? If not, what kind of camcorder do I need?

GET A MINI DV OR HARD DRIVE CAMERA. IMO it is worth the cost to be able to use it on the mac. I had two mini dvd cameras and I just ordered the Hard drive camera form sony.

If you got money to burn, then I would get a compatible video camera to use the firewire features. For those of us who are on limited budgets, you can still use the old camera, just use a workaround, like ripping from your camera to mac, then start playiing with iMovie or iDVD with your home movies. Just my 2 cents....
