    iMovie: Incompatible Camera video format...?
I just got a new Sony HDR-HC3 camcorder and at first it would easily put the movies right onto iMovie witht he firewire. I could control the cam through my computer. But now, for some reason it will not connect. It comes up with an error message that says:

    Incompatible Camera Video Format

The attached camera uses a different video format than your project's
format. To use this camera, disconnect any other tape-based cameras,
then create a new, empty project.

I did what it said ( I had no other "tape based cameras"), I closed it, and made a new empty project. Same error happened. I did not make any changes to the camera or my macbook, maybe something I did by an accident...
    Can anybody help me out?
    Thanks,
    Connor

What video format are you using when you create a new project?

When you create a new project, you're given the choice of format. Make sure it's the right one.

Okay, I got the camera to say it is connected and everything but now when I press play, it does not show any video so I can't import anything. It shows the video on the camera's display though. I also saw that it said it does not have the quicktime software necessary to view and edit HDV film, however as I said everything workded fine the first time.

    Cool
You have set the camera to VCR mode and selected import in the iMovie window right?
