Thread: .Avi vs QuickTime
12-31-2006, 03:34 PM #1MacHeadCaseGuest.Avi vs QuickTime
I see a lot of members asking about .avi files, how to view them, convert them, etc.
I was wondering: is the .avi codec better than anything QuickTime or is it simply because Windows dominates the market share or what is it exactly?

H.264 is better. AVI just happens to be that codec those hackers began using when ripping illegal videos. It kinda stuck. If you liked this post, consider using the Reputation System by hitting the icon on the left.
