What is the difference in these extentions and which will give you the best quality at say 700MB. Also which would be the best for viewing through a digital projector that is hooked up to the macbook.

Best Quality for a 700Mb file (I'm assuming you mean a full length movie) would be MP4/H.264 encoding.

yes, I was talking about a full length movie, sorry. But what is the difference between these extentions. And why does the movies that you can get through itunes as an mp4 look so much better than when you rip a dvd into an mp4?

That is a really good question. I dont really thinkg MP4 is all its cracked up to be. I have the h.264 encoding. When I finish movie prolects I usually leave them as DV files because they look better.
