Hi everyone.

I am having trouble converting avi to dvd. When i had my G5 i used to use toast and everything worked great, but since the switch to intel toast now refuses to encode video. So is there any other programs out there that will work.
I dont want to have to install XP just to convert video.

Thanks

can you playback those avis in quicktime? if not you need codecs, but unfortunately some codecs are not yet compatible with intel macs. I guess you just have to wait

Make sure you have the divx plug in. Then find Quicktime icon in the apps folder. Hi-light it and hit command I to get info go down under the general section and check the box that says "open using Rosetta". This should make it work but the conversion will take a little longer.

An even longer way around it is to import into Final Cut, render the ENTIRE movie (otherwise sound doesn't work - this will happen automatically when you export) and burn via iDVD or whatever.

Too much hassle if the other suggestions work, but if they don't, then it could be a temporary solution.

Every avi can be played on my mac. All i was asking if there was anything else other than toast to encode. I have finally got around to using IDVD and it did a good job.

Thanks for all your replies though.
