ffmpegg and iMac core duo

so i just got my new iMac and i was trying to download ffmegg and when i asks me to download the files to make it work it will tell me that it is an invalid file type, my friend, who dose not have a intel chip can get it to work for him,any one know what is going on

Mac Specs: i dont have no mac's

ffmpegg doesnt work? or are you talking about the 'mpeg2enc, mplayer and mencoder components' those can be installed (once downloaded) within ffmpegg if i recall correctly

Yeah i have downloaded ffmpegg, and it opens, but once i try to install the components it tells me that it can not find them or that it is an invalid file
