Black square frame around my video

For many years I use Toast Titanium 7.1.3 for burning
my students' re-edited work on DVDs.
The videos have been digitized (the original video footage is in Sony's UMATIC format) and copied to DVDs in order to re-edit them using iMovie 0.6 Widescreen option.
But now I am experiencing a problem I never had before.
Toast Titanium adds an unsolicited black frame on four sides creating a square box around the image.
I am unable to find assistance.
This is the equipment I use
Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 (updated)
Power Mac G5
Model: PowerMac11,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (1.1)
Number Of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 7 GB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.7f1

How about posting a screen shot of what you're experiencing so our members can get some idea of what you're referring to. Also, you're using real old equipment, an old version of OS X, and an old version of Toast; hopefully someone will be able to assist.

I can't check this for sure since I don't have those versions of the software any more but if you are seeing what I think you are seeing it seems like a letter boxing issue. I get this on TV when I play back standard definition video on the high definition screen>

Check the settings in Toast once a video has been pulled into toast. I think somewhere along he process something thinks the video is supposed to be in 4:3 aspect ratio. I would check the settings in iMovie as well. This seems like there is an aspect ratio issue where something thinks you want the video in 4:3 format.

Black bars around my video

Thank you both CHSCAG and SLYDUDE for your kind and prompt attention which is heartily appreciated.
I am however unable to insert in the reply form two .JPEG images.
1) A .JPEG image showing the normal size black bars on both sides of the image.
2) A .JPEG image showing that the black bars on both sides of the frame are twice their normal size and deform the image.
I don't know what to do.
Sorry about it.
Sally
