I am a recent mac convert - I have been using proshow on my pc for years. I am looking for something comparable to use on my mac. I don't need anything crazy fancy and complex. I want something where I can pull in my photos and easily overlay it with music and have a variety of transitions. I want to be able to burn it to DVD to play on my TV.

I am not looking to spend much money on it. Any ideas?

I believe that photo has a setting that will allow that, and it's free
Select the pictures you want, then In the file menu select "New slideshow". It gives you options at the bottom to customize.

To burn DVD's i think you might need to work on iMovie (already installed on your Mac) It's basically the same simplicity of the photo so you shouldn't have any problems

It doesn't look like there is a way to add text in the photo (im sure there is but im not to certain how), but i do know that you can add it in iMovie.

No, it doesn't. You'll have to use iMovie for that.
