I am trying to convert old VHS to DVD but I am having a problem trying to figure how to use the Imovie program to edit the video once I imported to my computer from the VCR machine.

My biggest problem is editing and cutting the unwanted frames

I have not found any easy instructions how to do this, any ideas

Try one of the tutors available from the App store. I used Tutor for iMove .It was inexpensive and very good.

There's a page on Apple's own website with video tutorials on how to use iMovie:

Apple - Find Out How - Movies - iMovie

Second hit on a google search.
