How to get 1080p upload from iphone/imovie to youtube?

Hello i'm new on here and need some help, I had posted this question in the apps forum but i think it was the wrong section for it. How do I upload 1080p video to youtube from the ip4s? Am i doing something wrong? Is there a setting on my macbook pro i need to configure? See, I'll record a sample video on my ip4s, connect my sync cable, and the video syncs into iphoto. I then open imovie and import the clip here and create a new project. When i go to share to youtube, it only goes up to 720p. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I may be wrong, as I dont use YouTube much, but I think YouTube only supports up to 720 for normal users.

YouTube accepts 1080p:
Suggested resolutions and bit rates - YouTube Help

Do you get the 1080 option when choosing to Export rather than Share? If so Export and then upload from the YouTube site.
