iMovie to Quicktime problem

I am curently making music videos at home using iMovie. I then export the movie to quicktime and store it straight to my external hard-drive.

When i then play back the quicktime file the audio that i had sync'd up with the video stutters and goes completely out of time.

Is there an explanation for this? Can it be avoided?

Hope you can help

I only get the option to export to camera, iDVD or to quicktime.

I export to quicktime using full dvd quality which makes it a .mov file. i make it store on my external drive as its much bigger than the internal.

on playback the sounds stutters and goes out of sync.

If i get one that works then i will make an actual DVD using captyDVD when the DVD player starts the video the stutter still happens.

i havent got a clue on what it could be.

hope you can help
