When I'm trying to export my final movie it always appears the -50 Error and I don't know what does it means!

I tried everything and nothing helped.

What can I do?

You can supply way more information...What version of iMovie, how big is the project, how are you attempting to export, how much space is on your hard drive, the more info. the better...

Hi, I had similar problem (error -49) and, although it sounds an unlikely cause, it was to do with backups! Do you back up using time machine to an external hard drive? If so, let me know and I'll let you know how we fixed it.

I think error code (-49) has to do with the system being unable to eject a drive to it being in use. I don't have any way to check this though, I just recall getting this with Path Finder.

So I'm not too sure if it has anything to do with error code (-50)

Sorry, please ignore this, I figured out I was referring to error code (-47)

I also realised that I misread your statement Ally and you had solved your problem and was offering your help. My bad

Hi Madwolfe,

Thanks for your messages. We never did find out what error 49 was exactly, only that it was preventing my project from finalising. Backing up, then turning off Time Machine, then rebooting seemed to fix it and my project finalised fine.

All the best,

Ally

Well, Error -49 means: File already open with with write permission.

So if you, or anyone else bumps into this error code again, that is what it is referring to.
