Good Morning.
I need to transfer AVCHD to macbook and imovie 09. Can someone PLEASE help me transfer these files over so i can start editing. I did try to put files onto external hard drive using camera as a USB drive and this worked, but then went to connect and import onto imovie from hard drive, it did not recognise. I have footage stored in two areas, camera and hard drive. The camera is a HDR XR200 and its a macbook pro 13''. Thanks ever so much in advance. Neil |

You have to bring them in straight from the Camera, as in "Import from Camera". It is because of the AVCHD wrapper the cameras write onto the files. You cant "copy them to the hard drive, then back to the camera and try to import" because the wrapper gets messed up (basically).
If you have already taken them off the camera, copy them somewhere (external or internal hd, doesnt matter) and convert them. I use Camcorder Video Converter ($8.99 on the Mac Store right now) and it works. It has predefined outputs for iMovie and FCP.
