Hi
I'm a video editor and I'm about to buy a mac specifically so that I can edit using FCP HD. I'd love to buy the new iMac 20", but I've been told that you need an 800 Firewire port if using HD. Is this true? If so, should I rather buy the 15" or 17" Powerbook? Any advice would be grately appreciated. Lucy |

Well I suppose the higher bandwidth HD material would definitely benefit from the faster FW800 if you're using external drives, but afaik the internal drive on the iMac is also fairly fast...

So I think they should be fast enough. Do you have an Apple store near you? Perhaps take along some hd material and try whatever you want to do out. Or speak to your local genius. |
